Diverse Counseling Modalities Offered at New Heights Counseling

At New Heights Counseling, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of counseling modalities tailored to meet the diverse needs of our community. While not all therapists may practice every method, our counseling practice is proud to offer various approaches to promote mental health and well-being.

Fort Walton Beach Counseling 32578The counseling techniques available at New Heights Counseling include, but are not limited to:

    • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A therapeutic approach designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories.
    • Motivational Interviewing: A collaborative, client-centered approach to explore and resolve ambivalence towards change.
    • Internal Family Systems: Addresses the various “parts” within an individual to promote understanding and harmony.
    • ACT Therapy (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy): Encourages mindfulness and acceptance to develop psychological flexibility.
    • Emotionally Focused Therapy: Concentrates on improving emotional bonds within relationships.
    • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy: Combines cognitive therapy with mindfulness strategies to prevent the recurrence of depressive episodes.
    • Person-Centered Therapy: Focuses on providing a supportive and empathetic environment for self-exploration and personal growth.

The following three are Helena’s preferred modalities:

    Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at New Heights Counseling, Helena seamlessly integrates CBT into her practice, considering it one of her go-to methods for fostering positive change in clients. With a keen focus on identifying and modifying negative thought patterns and behaviors, Helena collaborates with individuals to develop practical strategies that empower them to navigate life’s challenges more effectively. Through structured sessions, she guides clients in reshaping maladaptive beliefs, promoting lasting cognitive shifts, and enhancing their overall well-being.

    Solution-Focused Therapy

In addition to CBT, Helena has a strong affinity for Solution-Focused Therapy, recognizing its potency in helping clients set and achieve realistic goals. Emphasizing solutions rather than dwelling on problems, Solution-Focused Therapy aligns with Helena’s proactive approach to counseling. She skillfully guides clients in exploring their strengths and resources, fostering a sense of empowerment and encouraging positive change by envisioning and working toward a preferred future.

    Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is another cornerstone of Helena’s therapeutic toolkit, mainly when working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Helena values CPT for its structured and evidence-based nature, guiding clients through a process of addressing and restructuring distressing thoughts related to traumatic experiences. By facilitating a cognitive shift, Helena helps clients reclaim control over their lives, promoting healing and resilience in the aftermath of trauma.

These three methods reflect Helena’s commitment to providing tailored, effective, and compassionate care to her clients at New Heights Counseling. If you have any questions about our counseling techniques or want to discuss which approach may be right for you, please get in touch with us. We’re here to support you on your journey to improved mental health.
